Lucreccia Quintanilla and Jason Heller (Australia)
“Music is the weapon of the future” - Fela Anikulapo Kuti
Jason Heller and Lucreccia Quintanilla have been working together since 2006. Their collaboration is driven to create inclusive platforms for informal cultural exchange between communities using music as a point of departure. Their practice is multidisciplinary and has led them to work in video, sound, collage, installation and DJing.
An integral part of their practice is the understanding that cultural beliefs, hopes, values, and concerns are mapped through music.
In 2008 they curated and hosted Collectors Set, a weekly variety showcase of Melbourne and interstate performers and DJ’s. They also hosted Jump Up, a series of child focused themed events that included video, sound and music, as well as presenting animated works by Arts Project Australia, interactive scientist/artist duo Scale Free Networks alongside an array of Melbourne’s best experimental musicians.
