Yennyferth Becerra (Chile)
Yennyferth Becerra's work has been greatly celebrated in Chile and in Latin America over the last 10 years. With an architectural background, her work has considered an in-depth investigation with space, land and the role of craft.
Her constructions made of woven forms became iconic and included the reclaiming of pedestrian strips as domestic environments
Yennyferth has participated in the Havana Bienal, the Mercosur Bienal and exhibited extensive in all major arts galleries in Chile, including solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santiago. Yennyferth currently lectures in Painting at University in Santiago
For Yogyakarta, Yennyferth project titled: Urbanismo, herramientas para mejorar (Urbanism and tools for improvement) will gather testimonies collected from Santiaguinos and Yogyakarta about their notion of home and domestic life.
By reconstructing a series of lo-fi tools in plastic, Yennyferth will thread the stories collected in Chile and Indonesia to create an environment of sound (in Spanish and Indonesian)
