Crossing South was produced to accompany the South Project’s Santiago Gathering ‘Crossing Horizons’ in October 2006. This bilingual publication includes essays from Nikos Papastergiadis, Carlos Ossa, Beatrix Bustos, Jon Bywater and John Mateer. The publication also contains a Preface by Kevin Murray and a Discussion transcript with Zara Stanhope, Danae Mossman and Magdalena Moreno. Crossing South reflects on the difficulties of translation and positions images from TRANS VERSA in the middle of the book, providing a third space for communication between the English and Spanish texts.

This publication was produced after the TRANS VERSA exhibition in Santiago Chile, in October 2006 as a response to the ideas and issues raised. Curators Zara Stanhope and Danae Mossman were interested in developing the notion of TRANS VERSA as a platform for discussion, production and exchange, and as an extension of this to create a document that reflected a range of perspectives on the exhibition from artists, writers and curators.
