Venue: Centro Cultural Matucana100

Lives and works in New Zealand

Fiona Jack will utilise a large public wall outside of Matucana 100 cultural central as the canvas for a series of abstract maps and marks which investigate the shifting social and political parameters that define structures of the city. Jack's recent work includes books, wallpaper, flags, billboards and installations that in various ways investigate definitions and interpretations of social space. Jack's interest in exploring the ways we demarcate the physical and social limitations of public space are manifested in her billboard projects, namely Please Take One , 2004 as part of the Nomad series in London, the NothingTM billboard series in 1997 and The Haiku Project Billboard Series. Recent shows include a flag commission from Los Angeles collector Shirley Morales, One Night Gallery in Cuba , The Physics Room in Christchurch and Depth Analysis at Raid Projects in Los Angeles. Fiona Jack has an MFA from Cal Arts in Los Angeles and a Bachelor's degree in design from AUT, New Zealand
