Andrew McQualter, Studies for the shape of government, 2004–5

Lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
McQualter’s work is primarily concerned with the practice of drawing, a process through which he pursues an open, questioning and diverse investigation, exploring how we as viewers and individuals think, know and represent ideas. In recent work McQualter has posed to members of the public the short question ‘how does government operate?’ Diagrams and visual utterances are developed to communicate the resulting opinions, revealing the diversity of knowledge dissemination through out communities.
Andrew McQualter's recent solo exhibitions include Stalking Horses at Scott Donovan Gallery in Sydney, Australia, and Studies for the shape of government at Newcastle Regional Gallery, Australia, both in 2005. During 2005 his work was included in group exhibitions at Tin Sheds Gallery, The University of Sydney; Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne; the Art Gallery of West Australia and in the exhibition Make it Modern for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Melbourne Office organised by the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art
