Lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne based artist Ash Keating keenly integrates his interest in political activism and environmental concerns with his art strategies. Keating presses on the public’s conscience in his most recent projects by utilising free throw away daily tabloids, and reinterpreting the material to create intricate installations of hand cut paper forms. Keating’s Press Release, involved the process and performance of hand cutting 6500 Australasian gannets from their tabloid pages and then releasing them to fly within the gallery space. Keating will release the newspaper gannets for the third time in Santiago.

Keating’s recent solo exhibitions include 250 Hours – Work for One Person, Platform 2, Melbourne Aug 2006, Press Release, dianne tanzer gallery, Melbourne 2005, mX – Page 4 & 5 Sept 6 2002, Trocadero Art-Space, Footscray, Melbourne 2005. Keating’s work “Support can make the Difference” was exhibited in the group show Octopus 6 at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in July 2006.   Keating has a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) from the Monash University, Faculty of Art & Design, Caulfield Campus.
