Santiago 2006

Third International Gathering, Santiago (2006)
Crossing horizons: context + community in the south
Monday 3rd October – Friday 7th October 2006
In 2006 the Project looked towards Latin America. Whilst in Chile the South Project endeavored to create platforms from which artists, writers and cultural workers could explore issues relating to language, political activism in the arts, notions of exile, alternative structures and collective practices. Santiago Gathering consisted of an activation across events, exhibitions, actions, workshops and a conference in a range of distinct and diverse settings in the local cultural landscape. Its flagship projects were TRANS VERSA curatorial project, Bolivarian Dream commission of a compilation of video art and Make the Common Precious touring exhibition.
